Do You Have Snow Damage?

Prince George’s County has advised all homeowners and business owners to check their properties for damage.  Better safe then sorry.

LARGO, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources’ (DER) Permit and Review Group, in conjunction with the Maryland Emergency Management Agency, today announced that it strongly encourages all homeowners, building owners and managers to check the structural integrity of their properties due to the unusually heavy weight from the accumulation of snow.

Homeowners, building owners and managers are encouraged to take a survey of their homes and buildings to review for abnormal window and door operation, noticeable deflection of roof members, cracking of ceiling finishes, deflection of drop ceilings and deflection of sprinkler heads. New roof leaks may be an indication that a snow loading condition is potentially developing. If structural damage is noticed, DER recommends that you a hire a reputable contractor to sustain or repair the damage as soon as possible.

For more information, please call DER’s Permit and Review Office at (301) 883-5924.
