Liveblog: Ready. Set. Go!

Today is March 20, 2010.  We’re here at the Prince George’s County Sports and Learning Complex for a milestone event:  the Envision Prince George’s 21st Century Town Meeting.  We’ll be joined by up to 1000 friends and neighbors dedicated to setting a vision and prioritizing goals for the future of the county.
The event today follows AmericaSpeaks 21st Century Town Meeting process.
• The main program will be directed by our lead facilitators:
Steve Brigham with AmericaSpeaks and independent facilitator David Campt
• Up to 1000 participants will be seated at tables of approximately 10 each
• Each table has a facilitator who will direct table discussions
• Each table has a wired groupware computer used to bring together the major ideas from conversations.
• A central Theme Team will bring together the major themes emerging from each of the table conversation sessions.
• Every participant will also have a radio keypad.  As major themes emerge around each discussion topic, participant votes prioritize themes resulting in a prioritized agenda.
The tables are set.  The program is ready, and we are all good to go.  Well over 1000 people are registered for today’s event which kicks off at 9:30am.
