New 911 Call Center Coming To Prince George’s

Bowie, MD will be the new site for the Prince George’s County 911 call center, which will open this fall.

St. John Properties Inc.started building a new public safety communications center for Prince George’s County.

When it opens this fall, the single-story, 40,000-square-foot building will serve as the receiving and processing hub for all emergency calls placed by the county’s residents and businesses, replacing the county’s current communications center at 7911 Anchor St. in Landover.

“The current communications center was last renovated more than 10 years ago, and it was a county priority to upgrade the operation with a modern facility to handle current and long-term demand in the region,” said Floyd Holt, director of central services for Prince George’s County.

The 24/7 call center is run by more than 200 people who field and dispatch calls, provide technical support, monitor radio systems and perform crisis intervention and management activities.
