The Envision Participant Guide provides an in-depth exploration of the opportunities and challenges which may shape the future of Prince George’s County.

What are some of the most important opportunities for us to take advantage of in the future? Top answers included:

• Improve Education System and Workforce Training—Improve the education system and expand workforce training at every level–including community college, career and technical, and high schools.

• Pursue Mixed-Use Development at Train Stations—Take advantage of opportunities to develop a mix of development uses; 15 Metro and seven MARC stations, and the one Amtrak station, surrounded by land that is well suited for transit-oriented development.

• Target Core Industries—Market the county’s assets and target industries that have high potential for future growth, including green businesses and technology, aligned with the strengths of the county and the Washington region.

• Capitalize on Strong Higher Education System—Build upon the strengths of the higher education system including Bowie State University, Prince George’s Community College, and University of Maryland-College Park, among others, as centers of learning, intellect, employment, research, and as job generators.

• Recruit Federal Agencies—Successfully recruit federal agencies that provide excellent and numerous opportunities for spin-off businesses and additional jobs.

• Preserve Rural Areas—Preserve the rural character and develop green/environmentally sensitive urban areas such as parks, wooded areas, and trails to enhance quality of life.
