Prince George’s Suite: The Way Forward

Prince George’s Suite Magazine reports on Saturday’s Envision Prince George’s 21st Century Town Meeting.

On March 20, more than 1,000 people gathered inside the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover to share their individual and collective vision for the county’s future.

Sponsored by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, the Envision Prince George’s 21st Century Town Meeting, was designed to cast a wide net and reel in all the county’s stakeholders – residents, business owners, educators and politicos, among others – to brainstorm the possibilities of the county’s evolution.

Organizers say the effort began last fall with six community forums that drew nearly 700 residents who offered more than 3,800 ideas. The common themes were education, jobs, transportation and the environment.

Saturday’s six-hour gathering, which kicked off at 9:30 A.M., had similar results.
