Residents’ Vision Of County Future Revealed In Envision Report

[GAZETTE]  TEAMS TO BEGIN WORKING ON HOW TO IMPROVE SAFETY, SCHOOLS IN COUNTY

The two years of conversations, town hall meetings, polls and internet posts, as well as a $700,000 budget have finally produced Envision Prince George’s vision for the future of the county.  This vision report was presented at the recently held Economic Outlook Forum on the campus of the University of Maryland at College Park.

The report featured 47 goals for the county that included such things as less crime, better schools and more affordable housing options.  There are implementation teams of concerned and involved citizens that have been formed to address the 47 goals.  These goals were used to create the list of 14 “priority goals” which include more general topics such as economic development, public engagement and a more responsive elected government.

“A lot of people have been highly involved in this,” said Steve Brigham, whose Washington, D.C., nonprofit organization AmericaSpeaks was paid to run the outreach effort during the last 20 months. “Something important is happening and has happened.”
