Whole Foods May Be Coming To Prince George’s County

Prince George’s County officials recently voted in favor of a controversial rezoning request that may pave the way for the county’s first Whole Foods Market. The proposal to rezone a 36-acre parcel of land into a multi-use development was the idea of the Cafritz family, owners of the property just off Route 1 in Riverdale Park, MD. The concept has been under review for several years, with a Council vote renedered on July 9. The site is currently zoned for residential use. In addition to Whole Foods, the mixed-use zoning designation ushers in plans for 995 units of apartments and townhomes, a 120-room hotel, and significant space for retail and business offices.
